The Design to Goal solution method creates a solution using your estimated system size and productivity, plus a single duration, effort, staff, or cost goal. It is ideal when you know (or can estimate) size and team capability (PI) but want to generate a solution tailored to a single constraint or goal (example: six months or $2 million dollars).
To create a new Design to Goal solution, click the Create New Project from Template icon from the project list page, then select Estimation from the list of project types. Select a configuration source, then OK to go to the Assumptions tab of the Edit Estimate dialog and select Design to Goal from the list of solution methods. If you are working with an existing project, you can just select Design to Goal from the solution methods listed on the Assumptions tab.
The input fields on the right-hand size of the Assumptions tab will update to display only the inputs needed for this solution method.
