Granting Permissions (by Service)

Permissions associated with a given role can also be granted or withheld by service (Estimation and Closeout). This allows site admins the flexibility to tailor permissions as needed for projects in different lifecycle stages. A list of available services appears in the column headings along the top of the matrix. If a service has not been licensed by your organization, all permissions associated with the unlicensed service will be disabled.

To edit the permissions assigned to each Role by service, use the pencil icon in the far-right column to select one of the following permissions:

Full Access. Users with Full Access permissions can perform all actions associated with the associated service. On the main SLIM-Collaborate site, they can view and edit project data and settings for projects in the associated service and advance projects. Starting with version 3.0 of SLIM-Collaborate, users with Full Access to the Estimation service in their default role can check out projects for round trip data exchange with SLIM-Estimate, advance Estimation projects to the Closeout stage, and import SLIM-Estimate projects to the portfolio via the Back Office Import Projects menu item.  Users with Full Access to the Closeout service can import SLIM-DataManager projects and export Closeout projects to SLIM-DataManager via the Back Office, Export Closeout Projects menu item.  If your site is upgraded from a previous version of SLIM-Collaborate, users with Full Access to the Estimation and Closeout services will automatically gain access to these extended features.

Contribute.  Users with this permission can view and edit project data and settings for projects in the associated service.

View. This permission allows users to view, but not edit project data and settings for projects within the associated service.

      - none - This option denies access to the associated service and/or projects stored within it.

The list of permissions is fixed and cannot be changed in any way. When in doubt, it is advisable to grant only those permissions required for users assigned to each role. For a more detailed view of the features available to users with different roles or permissions, see the Collaborate Permissions Tables in the Appendix of this user guide.
