Using Skills During Round Trip

Updating a SLIM-Collaborate project does NOT automatically update the project’s associated workbook, so you should confirm that the skills settings are correct when you check out a project for Round Trip data exchange with SLIM-Estimate. The settings that turn skills on or off are maintained separately for any Collaborate project and its associated workbook.   Consequently, if you turn skills off in SLIM-Collaborate - and then check out the project - the skills flag in the checked-out file will retain its original status.

Conversely, if skills are valid and turned on when the project is checked out, but the skills configuration is then rendered invalid by edits to the checked-out SLIM-Estimate file, upon check in, the skills checkbox will be disabled, but still checked (even though the skills are now invalid).  Skills charts for the project will display a ‘no skills data’ message in red text, and the hover tip for the skills checkbox will inform you why the skills cannot be generated.

Exercise caution when using Round Trip to exchange data with SLIM-Estimate to keep the skills breakout on/off settings in sync.
