The Challenge

Phillip Lane has been managing software development projects for Rintell Corporation for years. He has been frustrated by the unrealistic expectations set for his team.  He is excited to help evaluate SLIM-Collaborate. He believes that getting others involved in the estimation process and adopting a scope-based, top-down approach based on industry data will set his team up for success.

His sales manager, Rhonda Hanson, is bidding on a contract to develop a medical records management system.  They are proposing delivery in 6 months using a team of 10 people.  Sizing the scope of projects is new to the enterprise; with help from QSM Support, the architects are combing through requirements to produce a detailed size estimate.  The first stage in Rintell’s process, which SLIM-Collaborate helps automate, is to create a Feasibility estimate based on the proposal team’s schedule and resource goals and assess the risk.  Phillip can take advantage of QSM’s industry database of completed projects and his experience to select a t-shirt software size estimate to get started.
