Project Analysis Using Portfolio Dashboards

Portfolio dashboards provide a graphical summary of the estimates and closeout projects in your project portfolio. The analysis process begins on the Project List view, where projects can be sorted, grouped, and filtered into relevant subsets. Once you have selected a group of projects for analysis, you can display and analyze them using the Portfolio dashboard.

There are eight distinct chart types available for use with a Portfolio dashboard. Gantt charts show a timeline of your selected projects. Aggregate Time Series charts show staffing, effort, or cost per month over time. Pie and bar charts show the distribution of projects in your portfolio by language, technology, year of completion, or a variety of other characteristics. Benchmarking charts include the Quadrant, Five Star Benchmark, Metric Benchmark, and Trend Benchmark charts.

Use the Portfolio dashboard to answer questions like these:

What types of projects do we have in our portfolio?

Are there differences in productivity between various divisions or project types?

Are we getting more efficient with time?

Which are the best and worst performers compared to our benchmark trends?
