Defects SIT-DEL

Total number of defects found between System Integration and Delivery (end of phase 3). System Integration is a QSM-defined milestone that represents the point at which a configuration item (e.g., package, compilation unit) is placed under change control and is ready to be integrated into the evolving system. Delivery is a QSM-defined milestone that represents full functionality with 95% reliability (generally occurring at the end of Phase 3).  This metric is estimated for projects in the Estimation stage and manually entered for completed Closeout stage projects. At Closeout, enter the total number of defects found between the end of System Integration and Test and the completion of Phase 3. System Integration complete is significant because this is the first time that defect counts reflect all functionality to be delivered (as opposed to some subset of delivered features). This information will be used to calculate a Defect Tuning factor for the project that can be used to tune future reliability estimates to your actual experience on completed projects.
