The Default Workbook Versions dropdown is used to designate the default file version for seed workbooks used when exporting projects from Collaborate to the desktop (.SEW and .SMP workbooks). It affects:
•The default Shared Workbook (upgraded SLIM-Collaborate sites only), if no other shared workbooks have been uploaded. Shared workbooks are no longer supported in SLIM-Collaborate.
•The exported database version when exporting Closeout projects to SLIM-DataManager.
Since SLIM-Suite desktop applications are forward- but not backward compatible, the earliest supported version is the most practical choice. If everyone in your organization is using the most recent version of the desktop applications, you can safely select that version. Workbook files created in earlier versions of SLIM-Estimate or DataManager can be opened and upgraded using later versions of SLIM-Suite, but the reverse is not true. If your organization is running multiple versions of SLIM-Suite desktop applications, choosing the earliest supported version will ensure that workbooks exported by SLIM-Collaborate can be opened by any desktop user, regardless of the version of SLIM-Suite he or she uses.
